New Working Environment at Campus Rainvilleterrasse
In 2020, the ground floor of the Rainvilleterrasse Campus was converted to gmp offices. Special care was taken to retain the historic parquet flooring, the existing, intricately designed ceilings, and the central bar counter. As part of the conversion, the ballroom on the north side was transformed into a modern working environment: two long rows of tables for competition teams are able to be combined with a meeting area and communication zone, which can be partitioned off by means of an acoustic curtain. All furnishings are customizable and permit multifunctional use of the hall – for example, for lectures and symposia. Two new fixed-glazed openings in the south interior wall of the hall create new sightlines to the cafeteria and the Elbe beyond. The cafeteria serving employees from both gmp offices in Hamburg and the Academy for Architectural Culture (aac) includes a terrace with a view of the Elbe and Köhlbrand Bridge. The shared reception area for the gmp offices on the first and fourth floors was integrated into the cafeteria area. Acoustics in all the office spaces and conference rooms were a top priority. Large sections of the ceiling and wall surfaces were covered with sound-absorbing acoustic panels.
