The Grand Theater forms the eastern end of the 90-hectare cultural park of Tianjin with several cultural buildings grouped around a central, artificially created lake. Consisting of three independent concert and event halls on plinth that is accessed via exterior steps, the building, which faces the lake, presents itself as a stage for urban life. The shape of the deeply cantilevered roof construction alludes to the neighboring Tianjin Museum of Natural Science.
