The National Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin is set to have the third-largest internationally significant exhibition grounds after Shanghai and Guangzhou. Thanks to its favorable location in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the exhibition venue could become the portal for North China. Within a total area of around 1.4 million square meters, the building complex combines space for exhibitions, conferences, stores, offices, and a hotel. Tianjin National Convention & Exhibition Center I was completed and opened in August 2021. The complex is efficiently organized and creates a distinguished commercial and economic framework. The entire exhibition space is on one level. The entrance hall, which is covered by filigree canopies, marks the center of the grounds, with exhibition halls on either side. A central concourse connects the entrance hall to the exhibition halls. Several large restaurants, service functions, and conference rooms are arranged along the concourse, between the halls. The halls’ shed-like roof structure allows daylight to penetrate the interior. At the easternmost end of the grounds, two symmetrical building complexes with hotels, offices, and stores have been completed in 2022. They are positioned on both sides of the eastern entrance hall of the NCEC. Each complex consists of two high-rises and podium buildings. The hotel is situated on the south side, the northern building complex contains commercial units and office spaces. The roof of the eastern entrance hall is supported by 20 umbrella-like steel columns, similarly to the central hall. On the third story, three suspension bridges interconnect the hotel, the commercial units, and the main exhibition area. Tianjin National Convention & Exhibition Center II was completed at the end of 2023. Like Center I, the floor plan of Center II is oriented towards a central hall. There are 16 exhibition halls on either side, which are connected by a central concourse. The individual halls are approximately 9,000 square meters in size and can be combined into 18,000 square meters of space if required. A cube with a wooden facade is set into the glass central hall. It houses the reception hall, conference centers, a press center and separate rooms for seminars and relaxation.
