The training center, where children and adolescents can learn how to behave in dangerous situations, is part of the “Oriental Land Shanghai” recreational park. Five discrete building segments address differing scenarios that range from everyday emergencies to natural disasters. A north-south oriented central hall unites the staggered blocks. The scale-like metal facade of perforated rhombic panels was developed parametrically due to the complex geometry of the building form. The metal panels are in bluish-gray hues, so depending on how the light hits the surface, the training center appears to blend with its surroundings as if camouflaged.
